This course provides opportunities to learn and experience a variety of topics in the field of business. Students are exposed to various economies, their roles in our economy, entrepreneurship, marketing, management, etc. Course activities involve students in writing, investigating, problem-solving, demonstrating, and creating.

This course teaches students the basic accounting practices and procedures for operating a small service business. Concepts taught will include journalizing and posting transactions, preparation of financial statements, petty cash, and payroll. In addition, students will learn about ethics and social responsibility related to business management.

In Accounting 2, students begin to learn how merchandise businesses differ from service businesses when doing accounting. A major concept students will learn in the course is inventory management and the systems company’s use. Business ethics as it relates to theft, reporting inventory, and tracking inventory are all covered in this course. Accounting 2 builds on the foundation of Accounting 1.
