Athletic Teams and Activities
Athletics are integral part of the total education of the Brockton High School student body. Eligible young men and women are encouraged to try out for the school’s numerous athletic teams. Each participant must be passing nine credits per term, 18 credits for the year. A student must have a physical examination prior to trying out. The physical examination for athletic participation should be administered by the student’s primary care physician or through the family’s health care provider because he/she has knowledge of your present and past medical history and is able to give a more thorough examination.
Brockton High School is known for its high academic standards, athletic excellence and good sportsmanship. The BHS Athletic Program was selected as the #1 Athletic Program in Massachusetts by
Sports Illustrated. The student athletes and coaches of BHS have won many championships and awards, with 56 varsity athletes earning All-Scholastic honors during the 2009-2010 school year.
The Boxers were Big 3 Champions in football, golf, girls' soccer, girls' cross-country, boys' basketball, ice hockey, boys' tennis and softball. The red and black were the defending Division I South champions in boys' soccer, girls' basketball and boys' basketball. Brockton High School Senior Greg Hilliard was the State Champion in the triple jump during the spring boys' track season. Our football teams have participated in 18 Super Bowls, winning 11 of those contests, a state record. We are proud of our role in the City of Champions.
We encourage all of our alumni and fans to join us in Boxer Country as we continue to build upon our impressive athletic tradition at Brockton High School. Go Boxers!
