Save Our Sports
Brockton High School Sports Foundation, Inc.
Commonly known as Save Our Sports, the Brockton High School Sports Foundation supports the Brockton High School Athletic Program by raising funds to defray operational costs. The group’s decades-long support has helped Brockton to remain one of the few communities that does not charge user fees, eliminating a key hurdle that could block many athletes from the joy of competition.
“Save Our Sports has done literally that – in the worst financial conditions, this group of volunteers has made the difference for our program and for thousands of students who may not have been able to participate,” said Athletic Director Thomas Kenney.
A designated non-profit 501(c)(3), Save Our Sports has been a major benefactor to BPS Athletics programs. The group has purchased and installed scoreboards and refinished gymnasium floors district-wide; purchased uniforms and equipment for countless BPS sports teams; developed the Baroncelli baseball/soccer/softball fields; handled maintenance, seeding and mowing of other football and soccer fields; helped cover transportation costs for BHS teams; installed signs and new lights at Brockton High School. And most recently, Save Our Sports purchased and installed a desperately needed new sound system at Marciano Stadium.
Save Our Sports also paid to refurbish the athletic weight room at Brockton School and sponsors free SAT Review classes for student athletes.
Since its establishment in 1992, Save Our Sports has contributed more than $500,000 in purchases or in-kind services to enhance Brockton’s athletics programs. The group holds fundraisers and oversees a highly-successful sports sponsorship program by placing business signs at Marciano Stadium and in the Arthur E. Staff Gymnasium.
The group meets the first Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the BHS Red Cafeteria. Save Our Sports – and the athletes it supports – relies on the contributions of citizens and businesses. Please consider giving back by volunteering your time and expertise to this Save Our Sports.
