Who are we?
The LINCS initiative is a project led by Brockton High School students active in the BHS after-school program, in collaboration with Brockton Public School's Communities and Schools for Success (CS2) and with the Opportunities to Serve Brockton's Promise Team. Additional partners include the Brockton Rotary, and the Brockton High School Key Club.
The LINCS initiative is designed to give teens leadership skills while assessing community needs and initiating collaborations to address those needs. Our goal is to have this web page widely used in this region as a clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities for youth, and for other community members. We believe that use of this service by the greater Brockton community will result in an overall increase in volunteer opportunities and an increase in the number of youth who participate in community service.
We agree with the vision articulated by America's Promise, and Brockton's Promise, which is that the chances that youth will succeed are greatly enhanced if they are provided with all five promises, one of which is "opportunities to serve." About this page...
This page is designed to serve as a clearinghouse for information about volunteer opportunities in the Brockton area. LINCS is intended both for organizations seeking volunteers, and for youth and community members interested in serving as volunteers. With this service, we hope to link community agencies and Brockton residents, closing gaps in resources to improve our community.
Please be advised that the purpose of LINCS is to publicize and notify youth and the community about agency needs for volunteers. It is the responsibility of the volunteers and the host organizations to coordinate their community service project, and for the hosts to provide for appropriate supervision of volunteers. LINCS does not screen volunteers, nor can it guarantee that individuals will volunteer for any of the activities posted here. However, LINCS will screen organizations seeking use of this website before posting their needs.
Host Organizations:
To be listed on this website, click on request a volunteer support form, which will be then be reviewed by LINCS participants, and then posted. In addition to posting volunteer requests here, LINCS will also post them in designated locations in Brockton High School.
