Interim Superintendent John Jerome understands the complexities of operating the Commonwealth’s fourth largest school district, having been a member of the Brockton Public Schools since 1971. He has served as a classroom teacher, as the district’s Chapter I Department Head from 1978 to 1994, and as the Title I Coordinator from 1995 to 2004. From 2004 to 2009, Mr. Jerome served as Executive Director of Teaching & Learning 6-8, overseeing the operation of the city’s middle schools, supervising curriculum, staffing, logistics, facilities and parental concerns. In 2009, he was named Deputy Superintendent of Schools in charge of supervision of curriculum and school operations, budget and grant funding. He has been a member of the District Leadership Team for more than a decade, and has led a number of district-wide initiatives including redistricting, human capital and school turnaround.
Mr. Jerome holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Westfield State College and a master’s degree in education from Bridgewater State College. He was named Interim Superintendent in January 2013.
