Introduction:
The Physical Education and Health Departments traditionally have been separate entities at Brockton High School. Presently, health related issues such as diabetes and obesity, plague American youth and their future. By integrating the two programs into Wellness Education, students will have a better understanding of their personal wellness with the goal of improved health and physical well-being.

Curriculum:

Currently, all freshmen are required to take “Introduction to Wellness,” a course that combines one term of physical activity with one term of classroom wellness. The goal is to ease the transition to the high school with activities that focus on character education as well as non-competitive and competitive play. 

The Wellness Education Department is now offering an elective curriculum for grades 10 – 12.  Most seniors will participate in a generic physical education class, while others will be able to select a semester-long physical activity course in an area that interests them, such as “The Anatomy of Weight Training,” or “Racquet Sports for Life.” A classroom academic component will be presented with each course to enhance learning and improve the students' motivation to continue their involvement in a lifetime activity.
