• Teachers will provide challenges and opportunities for students at all levels of musical ability.

Music Education, K-8

Elementary Schools K-5

Instruction:
The elementary classroom program, through which all students in grades one through five participate in weekly lessons taught by music specialists, forms the basis for all future experiences in music in the Brockton Public Schools. In the elementary program students learn the basics of tone, rhythm, and listening/sensitivity. The elementary choral program offers the opportunity for children to experience group singing and the standards of public performance through concerts performed for classmates, parents and the public. Beginning in grade four, children may choose to take small group lessons on musical instruments taught by music specialists. These same specialists also organize bands in each school, through which students learn to perform together and for audiences in concerts and parades.
